Oxford Sandy and Black Pork produce
|
Eating for conservation may seem like a contradiction in terms but it is a fact. Only by finding a market for our meat can we afford to continue breeding, thus helping to conserve the Oxford Sandy and Black Pig.
Our outdoor reared pigs are allowed to grow slowly to maturity; this provides the meat with a flavour that cannot be found with intensively reared stock.
We use a local abattoir which means less travel time and less stress for our pigs.
Our butcher is Patrick Strainge in Bampton, Oxfordshire. Patrick has won a large number of national awards for his meat and sausages; he is also a member of the Worshipful Company of Butchers Guild.

Hereford Beef produce |
Coopers Oxford Pork also sells the produce of one of our partners, the Townsend Pedigree Herd.
In autumn 2010 we formed a partnership with Andrew Townsend and we have taken on the marketing and sale of his beef, leaving him time to concentrate on rearing his quality Hereford herd.
The Townsend Pedigree Herd was established by Andrew Townsend's grandfather, Edwin L Townsend in 1964. The family have always farmed around the Wallingford and Dorchester on Thames Oxfordshire area.
Hereford cattle is one of Britain's finest native breeds, with their distinctive white face and red coat they have stood the test of time for over 200 years.
Hereford cattle produce the finest naturally marbled beef, which is succulent and full of flavour, from the most natural and simplest of food - grass.
Research has shown that beef produced from grass is high in the essential fatty acid Omega 3.
Each animal is completely traceable, it's entire life story and ancestry known in detail, with pedigree records dating back to 1846.
Where to buy our produce
We are able to offer you beef from the Townsend Pedigree Herd at the Regal Centre Wallingford most Saturdays, Wolvercote Market on the 4th and 5th Sundays of the month and at Wallingford Farmers Market on the third Tuesday or fifth Saturday of the month.
